Modify

After creating a WS design there are several tools and functions for modifying your design. Many of these functions are under modify and are described below. This menu has the following sub selections:

Trench

Split

Use this function for splitting a trench in an optional node. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Trench > Split

The command prompts for:

Pick a Node :

Click the node where the trench is to be split.

Ok ?

Pick a Node :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another node may be selected, without confirming the first selection.

The dialogue box Split Trench appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

The function may also be run from the shortcut menu for the node in the horizontal window. Place the crosshair upon the node where the trench is to be split and select Split trench from the menu.

The dialogue box Split trench appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

Join

Use this function for joining two trenches previously split using the function Split, or two trenches where the end node of the one trench is located in the same spot as the start node of the other trench. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Trench > Join

The command prompts for:

Pick a Node :

Click the node where the trenches are to be joined

Ok ?

Pick a Node :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another node may be selected, without confirming the first selection.

The dialogue box Join Trenches appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

The function may also be run from the shortcut menu for the node in the horizontal window. Place the crosshair upon the node where the trenches are to be joined and select Join trenches from the menu.

The dialogue box Join Trenches appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

Reverse

Use this function for reversing the current trench (highlighted in the left pane of the construction dialogue) in the setup for the longitudinal profile drawing. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Trench > Reverse

The dialogue box Reverse Trench appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

Keep the vertical window open when performing this function and watch the longitudinal profile be reversed.

The function may also be run from the shortcut menu for pipe in the horizontal window. Place the crosshair upon a pipe in the trench to be reversed and select Reverse Trench from the menu.

The dialogue box Reverse Trench appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

Pipe

Attach

Use this function for attaching a pipe to a connection (a manhole, a pipe bend, a valve, a pumping station, etc.). Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Pipe > Attach

The command prompts for:

Pick a Manhole, Valve or Bend :

Click the connection in question.

Ok ?

Pick a Manhole, Valve or Bend :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another connection may be selected, without confirming the first selection.

Attach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

Click the pipe you want to attach to the connection.

Ok ?

Attach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another connection may immediately be selected, without confirming the first selection.

Repeat until all relevant pipes are attached to the connection.

If the selected pipe is already attached to this connection or another one, the following message will appear on the command line:

Pipe selected is already attached to another object (<Trench Object><Number>)

Attach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

You may immediately select the next pipe to be attached, or press Esc to run another function.

The function may also be run from the shortcut menu for connection in the horizontal window. Place the crosshair upon the connection to which the pipe is to be attached and select Attach Pipe from the menu.

The command prompts for:

Attach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

Click the pipe you want to attach to the connection.

Ok ?

Attach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another connection may immediately be selected, without confirming the first selection.

Repeat until all relevant pipes are attached to the connection.

If the selected pipe is already attached to this connection or another one, the following message will appear on the command line:

Pipe selected is already attached to another object (<Trench Object><Number>)

Attach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

You may immediately select the next pipe to be attached, or press Esc to run another function.

Detach

Use this function for detaching a pipe from a connection (a manhole, a pipe bend, a valve, a pumping station, etc.). Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Pipe > Detach

The command prompts for:

Pick a Manhole, Valve or Bend :

Click the connection in question.

Ok ?

Pick a Manhole, Valve or Bend :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another connection may be selected, without confirming the first selection.

Pick a Manhole, Valve or Bend :

Click the pipe you want to detach from the connection.

Ok ?

Detach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another connection may immediately be selected, without confirming the first selection.

Repeat until all relevant pipes are detached from the connection.

If the selected pipe is not attached to this connection, the following message will appear on the command line:

Object selected is not attached to this object

Detach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

You may immediately select the next pipe to be detached, or press Esc to run another function.

The function may also be run from the shortcut menu for connection in the horizontal window. Place the crosshair upon the connection from which the pipe is to be detached and select Detach Pipe from the menu.

The command prompts for:

Detach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

Click the pipe you want to detach from the connection.

Ok ?

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another connection may immediately be selected, without confirming the first selection.

Repeat until all relevant pipes are detached from the connection.

If the selected pipe is not attached to this connection, the following message will appear on the command line:

Object selected is not attached to this object

Detach pipe <Enter>=Ok, <Esc>=Cancel :

You may immediately select the next pipe to be detached, or press Esc to run another function.

Copy Properties

Use this function for copying the properties of a pipe (material, dimension, class, etc.) to a number of other pipes in the horizontal window of the project. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Pipe > Copy Properties

The command prompts for:

Pick a Pipe :

Click the pipe from which the properties are to be copied.

Ok ?

Pick a Pipe :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another pipe may immediately be selected, without confirming the first selection.

Paste properties to pipe, <Enter>=Boundary selection, <Esc>=Cancel :

Press Enter or the right mouse button to select that the properties are to be copied within a selected boundary.

Pick boundary polyline for selection, <enter> = pick points :

Press Enter or the right mouse button to start selecting a boundary line.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Click in the drawing to give the polygon surrounding the area where the properties of the pipe are to be copied. The polygon is shown as a temporary line.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Click in the drawing.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Press Enter when the polygon surrounds the part of the trench where the properties of the selected pipe are. You may also use the right mouse button to confirm the extension of the polygon.

The function may also be run from the shortcut menu for pipe in the horizontal window. Place the crosshair upon the pipe from which the properties are to be copied and select Copy Properties from the menu.

The command prompts for:

Paste properties to pipe, <Enter>=Boundary selection, <Esc>=Cancel :

Further, the procedure is equal to selecting the function from the drop-down menu.

Replace Geometry

This function is used for transferring all information from one pipe to a new geometry (polyline) in the drawing. You first draw a polyline where you want the new pipe to be located. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Pipe > Replace Geometry

The command prompts for:

Pick a Pipe :

Click the pipe from which the geometry is to be copied.

Ok ?

Pick a Pipe :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another pipe may immediately be selected, without confirming the first selection.

Pick new geometry

Click the polyline to which the geometry is to be copied.

The original pipe is deleted, and all the properties of the pipe are transferred to the polyline so that this becomes the new pipe.

The function may also be run from the shortcut menu for pipe in the horizontal window. Place the crosshair upon the pipe from which the properties are to be copied and select Replace Geometry from the menu.

The command prompts for:

Pick new geometry

Click the polyline to which the geometry is to be copied

Connection

Set manhole cover elevation

This function gives you the opportunity to set the elevation of the manhole cover to a specific difference from the terrain surface within a limited area of the drawing (the horizontal window). This may be useful in cases where a trench is designed on a road under construction. You'll first want to finish the manholes at the roadbed, and later raise them to the road surface. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Connection > Set manhole cover elevation

The command prompts for:

Pick boundary polyline for selection, <enter> = pick points :

Press Enter or the right mouse button to start picking points for a polygon surrounding the manholes to have their cover adjusted differently from the terrain surface.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Click in the drawing to describe the polygon surrounding the area in which the manhole cover is to be adjusted. The polygon is shown as a temporary line in the drawing.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Click in the drawing.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Press Enter or the right mouse button when the polygon surrounds the manholes to be adjusted.

Set cover level offset terrain <0.00> :

Key in the desired manhole cover in meters, e.g. -0.5 and confirm by pressing Enter.

Command: <Number> manholes modified.

In the vertical window, you can watch the manhole tops being adjusted.

This function may also be run from the shortcut menu for connection in the vertical window. This gives the opportunity to set the cover level for one specific manhole. Place the crosshair upon the manhole to be adjusted and select Cover level offset terrain.

The command prompts for:

Set cover level offset terrain < -0.50> :

Key in the desired cover level and confirm by pressing Enter.

Set manhole bottom elevation

This function gives you the opportunity to set the elevation of the manhole bottom to a specific difference from the manhole's lowest pipe, within a limited area of the drawing (the horizontal window). Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Connection > Set manhole bottom elevation

The command prompts for:

Pick boundary polyline for selection, <enter> = pick points :

Press Enter or the right mouse button to start picking points for a polygon surrounding the manholes to have their bottoms adjusted according to their lowest pipes.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Click in the drawing to describe the polygon surrounding the area in which the manhole bottoms are to be adjusted. The polygon is shown as a temporary line in the drawing.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Click in the drawing.

Pick boundary point, <enter> = done :

Press Enter or the right mouse button when the polygon surrounds the manholes to have their bottoms adjusted.

The dialogue box Select manhole types to modify appears.

Select the type(s) of manholes to be adjusted and confirm by clicking OK.

Bottom elevation offset from lowest pipe (cm) ? <15.00> :

Key in the desired offset distance in cm, e.g. 10, and confirm by pressing Enter.

Command: <Number> manholes modified.

In the vertical window, you can watch the manhole bottoms being adjusted.

This function may also be run from the shortcut menu for connection in the vertical window. This gives the opportunity to set the offset between the manhole bottom and its lowest pipe for one specific manhole. Place the crosshair upon the manhole to be adjusted and select Level relative to lowest pipe.

The command prompts for:

Bottom elevation offset from lowest pipe (cm) ? <15.00> :

Key in the desired offset distance in cm, e.g. 10, and confirm by pressing Enter.

Watch the manhole bottoms being adjusted.

Delete Object

This function is used to delete any object in the WS project. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Delete Object

The command prompts for:

Pick a Trench Object :

Click the object to be deleted.

Ok ?

Pick a Trench Object :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another object may be selected immediately, without confirming the first selection.

The dialogue box Delete <Trench Object> appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

The function may also be run from shortcut menus for the different trench objects. Place the crosshair upon the object to be deleted and select Delete from the menu.

The dialogue box Delete <Trench Object> appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

Delete Section

This function is used to delete a section of a trench in the WS project. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Delete Section

The command prompts for:

Pick a Pipe :

Click a pipe in the section to be deleted.

Ok ?

Pick a Pipe :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, a pipe in another section may immediately be selected, without confirming the first selection.

The dialogue box Delete Trench Section appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

The function may also be run from the shortcut menu for pipe both in the horizontal and the vertical window of the WS project. Place the crosshair upon a pipe in the section to be deleted and select Delete Section from the menu.

The dialogue box Delete Trench Section appears.

Confirm by clicking Yes.

Renumbering...

This function is used to renumber nodes and manholes in the trenches of the WS project. Run the function from the following location:

Menu: Novapoint WS - Construction > Modify > Renumbering…

The dialogue box Renumbering appears. Select whether the calculation is to be run for a selected trench or for the whole project by ticking off for desired selection at the top of the dialogue box. Subsequently key in Start value, Incremental value, node prefix, and trench section prefix. Then tick off for whether manholes are to be renumbered or not, and in case of renumbering the manholes, key in manhole prefix. Run the calculation by clicking Apply.

The command prompts for:

Pick a Node :

Click the start node in the trench to be renumbered.

Pick a Node :

Confirm by pressing the right mouse button or Enter on the keyboard. If the selection should be wrong, another node may immediately be selected, without confirming the first selection.

The nodes in the trench are renumbered according to values from the dialogue box.

This function may also be run from the shortcut menu for nodes in the horizontal window of the construction. Place the crosshair upon the start node of the trench to be renumbered and select Renumber Trench from the menu.

The nodes in the trench are renumbered according to the last saved values in the dialogue box.
