Slice 3D Model
The function is used to cut a 3D model made of 3D face entities along an arbitrary plane, which is defined with three points. The function is useful for editing 3D models in connection with skew ends of a superstructure, etc.
Note: You should have a 3D surface model of the bridge/structure on the current drawing file, to operate this tool. To draw a 3D surface model, run the tool 'Draw 3D Face Model'.
Find the function here:
Ribbon: Bridge > 3D Slice 3D Model
Command prompts for:
Select Objects - Select the 3D face entities, which are to be chopped and finish with the key Return or Right button of the mouse.
Select the first point for your cross-section plan - Select the first point to define the cutting plane along which the selected entities are to be chopped.
Select the second point for your cross-section plan - Select the second point to define the plane along which the selected entities are to be chopped.
Select the third point for your cross-section plan - Select the third point to define the plane along which the selected entities are to be chopped. The 3D face entities selected, will be chopped along the cutting plane defined with the above three points.
If you have a situation such as skew ends of a superstructure, etc., you must delete the entities on one side of the cutting plane and use AutoCAD's Erase command.
See the example of 3D model below with a cutting vertical plane.
