Read and Calculate Elements

The functionality for tunnel elements is included in Novapoint Bridge Professional. This functionality enables the user to calculate exact positioning of concrete wall elements in road or railway tunnels. It also includes functionality for drawing the elements in AutoCAD one by one or as a series of elements.

The program is integrated with the other modules of Novapoint. Road data is imported from the road model result files using the 'Bridge Project Settings'. Specification of road data within this module is not necessary. Widening and niches must be defined for the wall geometry if this should be considered in the calculation of the position of the wall elements.

Note: The function reads the road data and the terrain date using the active road model and terrain model in 'Bridge Project Settings'. Make sure that the correct files are active.

Find the function here:

Ribbon: Bridge > Read and Calculate Elements

Road Data (Road Model)

Novapoint Bridge Professional reads road data directly from road files. You must connect to a road project before running the module. See the topic 'Bridge Project Settings'.

Terrain Data (Terrain Model)

Novapoint Bridge Professional reads terrain data from the terrain database. You must connect to a terrain database before running the module. See the topic 'Bridge Project Settings'

Element Plan

Run the function 'Read and Calculate Element' from the above location. The dialog box 'Element Plan' will pop up. Reading of the input data and calculation of the element plan is done in the dialog box 'Element Plan'.

Read Element Plan from File

Input data for the element plan is created in a text file as a series of input data lines. See the topic 'Commands for Element Plan Input Data' for a detailed description of the input format and commands to be used.

To read data from the file you must first specify the file name. The file extension is usually 'EPI'. The last read file is always shown in the field 'File'. The list (pull-down menu) at this field also contains the 12 latest used input data files at any time.

To select another file, press the button 'Open File'.

When the correct input data file is selected, press the button 'Read Data' to read the data from the file.

Calculate Element Plan

To start the calculations, press the button 'Calculate'. The program then executes all the necessary calculations for drawing and listing data for a single element or a series of elements.

The calculation progress is displayed in the field 'Status' of the dialog box.

Predefined Element Types

The program offers a set of predefined element types. An alias is referred to when using the element types. The following element types are defined:
