Check Rock Model
This tool checks if any borehole, without rock coding, penetrates the rock models.
Check a rock model
Select the tool “Check rock model”.
Select the rock surface to analyze.
Select which boreholes to use in the analysis of the rock model - typically an Import task.
Give a Tolerance - 0.1 m is the default. Penetration of the rock surface, less than the tolerance will not give any alert in the resulting list.
With check boxes “Preview in Plan” and “Preview in Table” AND selecting the button “Preview” will show the result in two new windows:
The Plan view will only show boreholes penetrating the rock model more than given tolerance.
Use the result
The result from the analysis is useful to identify where in the model the rock model should be revised.
Identify where the rock model should be revised
Select to view the boreholes in a Plan View.
From the Task tree - right-click on the “Check rock model” task and choose “Select result”.
The boreholes from the analysis will now be highlighted (red).
It is now easy to define Long/Cross sections to investigate how these boreholes adapt to the surfaces and neighboring boreholes.
Use Graphical interpretation to add extra interpreted point(s) - or - perhaps is any borehole not valid (wrong XYZ or termination code)?
Recalculate the rock models.
Select to edit the Check rock model task.
Select Finish. The Table is a dynamic query and will reanalyze the rock models. Hopefully, the list is now a little bit shorter.
