Tutorial - Alignment Style
In this tutorial, creating and customizing DRALIN-4 using Alignment Style Editor is explained. DRALIN-4 is a pre-defined style shipped with Novapoint installation. DRALIN-4 style details:
Five style elements are used.
One of the style element is used twice with different values.
Note: It is recommended to go through the topic Drawing Style Configuration for an overview on customization, terminology, and to follow this tutorial in an easier way.
Creating New Style
Run the function Drawing Style Configuration.
For function access details, refer to Drawing Style Configuration.
The interface <active style name> [<source>] Alignment Style Editor will pop up.
All further description refers to this interface.
Define the location for User-defined styles.
Click the toolbar icon Open.
The dialog Alignment Style will pop up.
Click the ellipse button under User-defined Styles.
Browse to the folder where the User-defined Styles are to be saved and click OK.
All the new styles will be saved to this folder until the location is changed.
Click the toolbar icon New.
Notice the preview - the new style is created and is simply a CAD polyline entity without any style elements such as chainage, labels, etc.
By default, the style is created with the style element Alignment.
Click the toolbar icon Save.
The dialog Set New Config's detail will pop up.
Style Name: Define a name for the style - Urban Roads.
Description: Define a description for the style - Urban Road Authority.
Click OK.
Notice: The interface name has changed to Urban Roads [User-defined Style] - Alignment Style Editor.
Add Style Elements
Adding alignment style elements to the active style (Urban Roads) from the list of elements.
Click the toolbar icon Add Element from Element Config.
The dialog Element Selection will pop up.
Select (check box) the following elements from the dialog Element Selection.
Tick mark along the alignment
Chainage Text
Flag mark at breakpoint
Flag segment parameters at breakpoint
Click OK to close the dialog Element Selection.
Run the tool Add Element from Element Config to add the element Tick mark along the alignment again as it is used twice in the style DRALIN-4.
Drag and drop the style elements to change the order of style elements.
Click the toolbar icon Save.
Remember to save the modification at regular interval.

Notes:
The alignment style element Alignment is a default element when a new style is created.
The elements added will be listed in the panel Elements View in a tree structure.
Click the plus symbol to expand an element and view the associated entities.
Style elements will be drawn in the order as they are in the panel Elements View.
The preview will be updated with the alignment style elements that were added.
Style Parameters
In the panel Style Parameters View define the following basic values for the style:
Base Scale - 1:1000
All the parametric values (such as text height, geometric properties of various entities, etc.) of this style are for this scale.
Style Interval - 50
Basic interval for style elements.
Sample of - 2D Alignment
Preview the style on an alignment with only horizontal geometry.
For further details on these parameters, refer to Drawing Style Configuration. For brief explanation on other parameters see the subchapter Simulation below.
Modify Style Elements
Defining the values for the style elements.
Alignment
Click the style element Alignment in the panel Elements View.
The parameters that are available for customizing will be listed in the panel Element Parameters View.
For the active style element (Alignment) no parameters are available for customization at element level.
See the subchapter Modify Style Entities below for further details.
Tick mark along the alignment
Click the style element Tick mark along the alignment in the panel Elements View.
Define the following values for the parameters in the panel Element Parameters View.

Creating the style Urban Roads (which is a copy of the pre-defined style DRALIN-4) is complete.
Simulation
The active style (Urban Roads) can be simulated for drawing scale, view direction, and alignment.
Sample Scale
In the panel Style Parameters View, choose a drawing scale value other than the Base Scale and check its influence on the style.
Use View Direction
Turn on the view direction and simulate the style.
View Direction
Turn on the view direction, define a view direction angle, and simulate the style.
Sample of
Simulate the active style on the three available sample alignments.
For further details, refer to Drawing Style Configuration.
Note: The active style is not having any style elements that present the information of vertical geometry or the railway details of the alignment, and hence the style looks the same on all the three samples.
