Draw Sight Triangles at Intersection

The function calculates the sight and stop distance requirements at an intersection or an access road based on a range of parameters.

Run the function from the following locations:

MOUS_ICO Toolbar: Intersection Design: Draw Sight Triangles at Intersection

MOUS_ICO Menu: Road > Intersection Tools > Sight Triangles at Intersection

Sight distance analysis can be used on:

Parameters Design Speed, Reaction Time, and Friction Coefficient can be edited.

Road class

Road class applies to the Norwegian standard from 1993. The road class will automatically give some of the parameters, but parameters can also be typed in.

Parameters

All the sight parameters at the fields Length Left side and Length Right side are given default values based on the selected road class. Point in a cell and type a new value to change a parameter. It is important to control all the parameters before drawing the sight triangle.

Centerlines

Use this command to select the centerlines.

Command prompts for:

Select secondary road centerline:

Select the center line of the secondary road.

Distance centerline - center vehicle < 1.75>:

Type in the value or press Enter.

Pick centerline primary road:

Select the centerline of the primary road, the left side seen from the secondary road.

Distance centerline - center vehicle <1.75>:

Type in the value or press Enter.

A preview of the sight triangles is shown. Users can still modify the parameters and the preview will be updated.

OK

Press OK to accept and draw the sight triangles.
