Draw Section with Symbols

This is a function for automatic illustration of symbols in sections based on Landscape symbols in plan drawing and feature code in the terrain section from the terrain model. The cross-sections have to be generated with the function Novapoint Terrain information Draw cross-section from terrain model. The section must be generated from a line object (Reference line) in the terrain model.

MOUS_ICO Menu: Landscape > Terrain Section > Draw Section with Symbols

MOUS_ICO Toolbar: Terrain Section: Draw Section with Symbols

The first step is to select the cross-sections you want to mark with symbols. You can choose one or many of the generated cross-sections. If the drop-down menu is empty, you must make sure that you have a cross-section generated from a line object (Reference line) in the terrain model.

Click the button Settings to define which feature code to mark with a symbol.

Settings

Under settings, you will find three panes. Configure Symbols Drawing Setting will show the layers in the drawing where the function finds Landscape symbols. You can then connect symbols to those layers.

Under Configure Breakpoint Drawings Settings, you get a list of all feature codes. This feature code is read from the cross-sections. You can then decide what symbols to connect to a feature code. If no symbol is connected to the feature code, only the text will be written in the drawing. If a symbol is defined, both the symbol and text will be drawn.

Under the folder Symbols search boundary settings you can define what object to search for in the cross-section as well as what distance to use as a boundary.

Distance forward and distance are parameters that control how far the function shall search for Landscape symbols for each cross-section. The example below shows a cross-section with both landscape symbols and feature codes with text and symbols:
